Fleck & Washburn will perform pieces from their Grammy-winning self-titled debut as well as their new record, Echo in the Valley (Rounder 2017). With one eye on using the banjo to showcase America’s rich heritage and the other pulling the noble instrument from its most familiar arena into new and unique realms, Bela & Abigail meet in the mean, head-on, to present music that feels wildly innovative and familiar at the same time. Whether at home, on stage or on record, their deep bond, combined with the way their distinct musical personalities and banjo styles interact, makes theirs a picking partnership unlike any other on the planet.

Taking a break from the frenzied pace of his late 60s songwriting work, Hazlewood recorded this collection of country-tinged and Hollywood-soaked songs about both the sweetness and loss of love. The duo perform cuts such as “Dark End of the Street” and “Only Mama That’ll Walk the Line” in their own utterly inimitable style only natural for two personalities as inimitable as Lee and Ann-Margret. In addition, Lee performs Tom Rush’s “No Regrets” solo, taking a cold, hard look at the aftermath of love gone wrong, in typical Hazlewood fashion.

Also included as bonus tracks are four extremely rare songs, which constituted the first two singles on LHI. “Sleep in the Grass” and “Chico”, a pair of Hazlewood originals performed as duets with Ann-Margret, produced on par with his most baroque masterworks, were first released as LHI-2. “You Turned My Head Around” and “It’s A Nice World To Visit (But Not to Live In)”, two slices of Nuggets-era psych-pop sung by Ann-Margret solo, are possibly two of Lee’s rarest and strangest productions. These four songs have been out-of-print since the time of their release and, along with The Cowboy & The Lady, make their first Hazlewood-approved appearance in 30 years.
    About the Artist

Lee Hazlewood is one of modern musics most endearing iconoclasts. Best known for the timeless pop hits he wrote and/or produced for stars and legends ranging from Duane Eddy to Nancy Sinatra to Waylon Jennings to Dean Martin, Hazlewoods own LHI (Lee Hazlewood Industries) imprint issued several sterling solo albums throughout the 60s and 70s that until now have been hard to find even on the original LP format, and have increasingly fallen prey to the baser motives of collectors and bootleggers. These albums are now being released legally on compact disk for the first time.

A beloved acoustic musician and longtime member of Alison Krauss’s Union Station, Dan Tyminski has had a storied career spanning over three decades. Now, the Vermont-born singer-songwriter is preparing to release his new solo album Southern Gothic under the solitary moniker Tyminski.

The new album sees Tyminski mixing his roots music pedigree with a wide range of contemporary influences on 13 songs he co-wrote with some of country’s best and brightest talents. Many of the songs were inspired by what Tyminski describes as his perceptions of “light and dark” and originally written for other artists, though he ultimately decided to record them himself. Co-writers on Southern Gothic include Sarah Buxton, Jesse Frasure, Ashley Monroe, Josh Kear, and the late Andrew Dorff.

In addition to his work as a performing musician, Tyminski famously gave his voice to the Coen Brothers’ Academy Award-nominated and Grammy-winning film O Brother, Where Art Thou?, providing the singing voice for George Clooney’s character Ulysses Everett McGill. More recently, he ventured beyond the borders of roots music to provide vocals on EDM artist Avicii’s global smash “Hey Brother.”

When Was The Last Time, the long-awaited fifth studio country album on Capitol Records Nashville, will be released nationwide Friday, October 20.Rucker spoke with Billboard about teaming up with esteemed Nashville producer Ross Copperman (Dierks Bentley, Brett Eldredge, Keith Urban) to bring his vision for the album to life. “On top of being a genius with the equipment, Ross is so high-energy and funny; that kid is never not laughing.” He added, “Every time we were in the studio we had a great band who had great ideas of their own, so it was the farthest thing from tedious, but just, let’s get in and do it. I think for the whole record we spent just three days tracking music.” This fall’s release will be yet another signature moment in the multiplatinum career of one of music’s most beloved figures. Rucker has never been busier while working on his new album with a slate of television appearances this spring and summer including a CMT Crossroads episode with John Mellencamp, an appearance in Adam Sandler’s Netflix original, Sandy Wexler, and his own episode of Celebrity Undercover Boss on CBS.
