Γερμανός πιανίστας με καλή καριέρα, για τον οποίον έχουμε ξαναγράψει στο δισκορυχείον (για το περσινό του “Luminosity” επίσης στην Origin), ο Florian Hoefner έχει καινούριο άλμπουμ, σόλο αυτή τη φορά, εμπνευσμένο από το περιβάλλον του νησιού Newfoundland, που βρίσκεται ανατολικά του Καναδά, στον Ατλαντικό (είναι λίγο μικρότερο από την Ελλάδα!) και που προφανώς το επισκέφθηκε μένοντας έκπληκτος από το φυσικό του κάλλος. Το αποτέλεσμα περικλείεται στο “Coldwater Stories” [Origin, 2017], ένα CD δέκα κομματιών, συντεθιμένα όλα από τον Hoefner – και όχι μόνο συντεθιμένα, αλλά και πλαισιωμένα από ανάλογες ιστορίες (που αφορούν είτε στο φυσικό στοιχείο του Newfoundland, είτε σε μικροαναλύσεις των κομματιών αυτών καθ’ αυτών).

Είναι όμορφο το άλμπουμ του Hoefner. Όμορφο υπό την έννοια πως η μουσική του είναι όμορφη. Έχει κάλλος και αυτή. Βρίθει μελωδικών επινοήσεων και τεχνικής εγγραφής μ’ ένα κάποιο βάθος, ώστε να πολλαπλασιάζεται το ηχητικό μεταίσθημα, σφραγίζοντας την κάθε νότα… πολύ μετά το «χτύπημά» της.

Κλασικές και νεορομαντικές αναφορές υπάρχουν σίγουρα εδώ, αλλά υπάρχει και η jazz του Fred Hersch(το λέει ο ίδιος ο Hoefner) τουλάχιστον στον τρόπο διδασκαλίας τού αυτοσχεδιασμού πάνω σε chorals (Μπαχ και τα λοιπά).

Το αποτέλεσμα δικαιώνει τον Hoefner – αν κρίνω μάλιστα και από φωτογραφίες του παράδεισου Newfoundland, που είδα στο διαδίκτυο.

Rebecca Hosking and Scott Neubert from Smash Recording out of Nashville, TN. have teamed up yet again for her fifth studio recorded CD, Safe Haven. The two have created quite a powerful musical duo, after the accolades poured in from, A Few Broken Pieces, the cathartic CD allowed her to grow and move on to create this latest endeavor that displays a side of Rebecca we have not yet seen.
