Since its birth in 2014, Molly’s Chamber shared its energy across the whole of Sardinia. The key elements of Molly’s sound can be found in their love for Irish and American folk music and the joyful atmosphere of the Irish drinking songs’. The debut album is titled Songs of the Sea (Van Records, 2017). The sea is not just a symbol for the epic journey and a source of inspiration for introspective analysis and literary creativity, as in The Fisherman e Wanderlast. It also represents the unique road to salvation and to self-overcoming, as in The Law of the Sea e The Song of the Reeds. The opening track is the musical adaptation of a poem: The Fisherman by W.B.Yeats. It is a romantic testament expressing the poet’s state of non-belonging to society, which is guilty of betraying the traditional values, personified by the fisherman.Molly’s joyful and adrenalinic impetus explodes in the exciting Peeping Molly and in the country ride Lovers in Disguise. The closing three-piece set is a pure instrumental joy composed of two traditional irish reels, Humors of Tulla and Johnny Will You Marry Me, and an original composition titled Jumping on the bed. Songs of the Sea was recorded by Matteo Marini at Gaya Blue Studio in Carbonia, in the summer of 2017. Music played by: Renato Collu (voice, guitar), Daniele Frau (banjo, guitar, vocals), Massimiliano Viani (violin), Giulio Pisu (keys), Matteo Costa (double bass), Federico Lecca (drums, vocals).
