Όταν είχα αγοράσει το άλμπουμ των Annabouboula “Hamam” [GR. Virgin VG 50346] είχα βρει μέσα στο φάκελο ένα δελτίο Τύπου και μια φωτογραφία της Anna Paidoussi-Drakopoulou, της τραγουδίστριας του γκρουπ. Ναι, είχα αγοράσει το LP στα μέσα των 90s, όχι την εποχή που βγήκε (1988) και είχα πετύχει προφανώς κάποια promo κόπια. Αντιγράφω λίγα λόγια από ’κείνο το δελτίο: 
«Το ενδιαφέρον των προοδευτικών[sic] μουσικών κύκλων σε όλον τον κόσμο στρέφεται τον τελευταίο καιρό στην παραδοσιακή μουσική χωρών της Αφρικής, της Ασίας, της Ευρώπης και της Νότιας Αμερικής. Με την ονομασία “γουόρλντ μιούζικ” περιγράφεται το νέο είδος που σιγά-σιγά παίρνει τη θέση του στις αγορές της Ευρώπης και της Αμερικής, που φαίνεται πως έχουν κορεστεί από τη μουσική τον τοπς και των χιτ-παρέιντ. Το μάξι-σινγκλ “Χαμάμ” (σ.σ. 1986) ακούστηκε πολύ στα πιο προοδευτικά[sic] κλαμπ της Ευρώπης και της Αμερικής.(…)
Το συγκρότημα που εδρεύει στη Νέα Υόρκη υπόγραψε παγκόσμιο συμβόλαιο με την εταιρεία Βέρτζιν και το πρώτο τους άλμπουμ κυκλοφορεί τον Μάρτιο (σ.σ. του ’88) στη Γερμανία, την Αγγλία, τη Γαλλία, την Αυστρία και φυσικά την Αμερική (σ.σ. και φυσικά την Ελλάδα)».

Annabouboula ήταν οι: Anna Paidoussi-Drakopoulou φωνή, Chris Lawrence programming, κλαρίνο καιGeorge Sempepos κιθάρες, synths, drum machines, programming.
Στον «Αμερικάνο», που ήταν… χάνος, του Ιάκωβου Μοντανάρη (ρεμπέτικο, ζεϊμπέκικο του 1935) πλαισιώνουν τους Annabouboula και οι Bond Bergland κιθάρα, Hearn Gadbois dumbek, Sync 66 chapman stick, κιθάρα και Reyent Bölükbasiτσέλο…
Αυτή είναι... ελληνική ψυχεδέλεια. Όχι τα φρόκαλα...
