Charley Pride – Music in My Heart (2017)

One of country music’s biggest longtime legends is gearing up to release new music. Charley Pride has announced that a new album, Music in My Heart.
The new project follows the path of traditional country music and features 13 new recordings written by respected songwriters like Bill Anderson, the late Tommy Collins, jazz star Johnny Mathis and Billy Yates, the latter of whom also serves as producer.
“It was fun getting back into the studio. My goal was to record the best traditional country album possible,” Pride says of Music in My Heart in a press release. “But I also wanted someone else to handle all of the producer chores so that I could focus more on my singing.”
The legendary country star draws from personal experiences on the release. A track called “The Way it Was in ’51” finds the singer reminiscing about what life was like more than 60 years ago, while also honoring the memory of his friend and fellow legend Merle Haggard. Other titles featured on the project include “Standing in My Way” and “Natural Feeling for You,” the latter of which is penned by “Kiss an Angel Good Morning” writer Ben Peters.

O Μηνάς Δημάκης είναι ένας αγαπημένος μου ποιητής. Γεννήθηκε στο Ηράκλειο το 1913 και αυτοκτόνησε στο Κολωνάκι, το 1980, στα 67 χρόνια του πέφτοντας στο κενό από πολυκατοικία. Όσοι ασχολούνται βαθύτερα με τη δισκογραφία και με το ελληνικό τραγούδι τον ξέρουν επίσης από τις θαυμάσιες μελοποιήσεις στίχων του από τη συνθέτρια Ρίκα Δεληγιαννάκη, στο άλμπουμ «Κάψαμε τα Καράβια μας» [EMI-Columbia/ Πολύτροπον, 1977] σε παραγωγή Μάνου Χατζιδάκι.
Πρόσφατα βρήκα, πάμφθηνα, μια σπάνια και άκοπη συγκεντρωτική έκδοση ποιημάτων τού Μηνά Δημάκη από το 1973 (εκδόσεις Βάκων) και από ’κει αντιγράφω ένα νεανικό ποίημά του, παρμένο από τα «Φύλλα Τέχνης» (1935-1936). Οι αναφορές του προφανείς…

«Αγάπες μου περαστικές, αγάπες μου χαμένες / όμορφες σαν τις Κυριακές, χαρές μου περασμένες / Κι όπως σας φέρνω πλάι μου, τις ώρες που βραδιάζει / στη στάχτη των ονείρων σας, πικρά το δάκρυ στάζει».
Τον ύμνο αυτόν τον είπε πρώτος, σαν γρήγορο ζεϊμπέκικο, ο Στράτος Διονυσίου το 1970. Λέμε για το «Στην στάχτη των ονείρων σας» σε μουσική Μίμη Χριστόπουλου και στίχους Σάκη Καπίρη. Το τραγούδι στην πορεία άλλαξε όχι μόνο τίτλο, αλλά και τέμπο. Έπεσε πιο χαμηλά, για να έρθει στα μέτρα του άρχοντα – έγινε «Αγάπες μου περαστικές» και μπήκε στο δίσκο «Ο Πρόσφυγας» (1977).
Η εκτέλεση του Μανώλη Αγγελόπουλου δεν έχει όμοιά της. Το τραγούδι είναι αληθινή απογείωση. Ψαλμός. Συγκλονισμός. Είναι μια δεύτερη εκτέλεση που διαλύει μια σχεδόν το ίδιο μεγάλη πρώτη.
Ακούς βουβός… και μένεις έτσι…

Διαβάζω διάφορα για τον Ράμφο, χρόνια τώρα, και πολύ περισσότερα εσχάτως όταν ως τυπικός δεξιός διανοούμενος συμπορεύεται με την ολιγαρχική ΕΕ, τη ΝΔ του Μητσοτάκη τζούνιορ κ.λπ. Για μένα το μεγάλο «έγκλημα» του Ράμφου, το οποίον αποσιωπάται, είναι ένα.
Ο Ράμφος ευθύνεται για τη συντηρητική στροφή του Σαββόπουλου, μετά τη Μεταπολίτευση («μια ρίζα δεντρολίβανο και κανένα καπνισμένο τσουκάλι να σε χαίρεται η μανούλα σου που καθαρίζει φρέσκα φασολάκια»), καθώς είχαν επισκεφτεί μαζί το Άγιον Όρος το 1975. Μια μετατόπιση που ολοκληρώθηκε με τη δεξιόστροφη (γιατί υπήρξε και η αριστερόστρφη του Μοσκώφ) νεοορθόδοξη κατάληξη του Σαββό, στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του ’80.
