Mensen zijn altijd al jaloers geweest op vogels. Hoe anders kan je verklaren dat er lui zijn die vogeltjes in een kooi stoppen. Wreed! Immers: vogels (plus vleermuizen, vissen en een paar insecten) zijn de enige waarlijk 3D levende wezens op deze planeet. Je pikt gewoon 1 dimensie van ze af als je ze opsluit. Kijk maar eens naar het poksay-vogeltje op de foto hieronder. Dit beestje zou moeten fladderen en kwelen in het weelderige woud!In de tijd van mijn grootouders was het niet ongewoon om zangvogeltjes met een breinaald blind te maken, want dan zouden ze beter zingen. Walgelijk. Helemaal vertrouwen doe ik mensen met gevleugelte in kooi dan ook nooit. Want als je ook maar enige vorm van empathie in je systeem hebt, kan je zoiets in je omgeving niet verdragen. Ik word al verdrietig van de foto.
Ik heb nog gedacht dat onze vogelhaat ingeprent was in ons zoogdieren-DNA als reactie op die grote enge dinosauriërs van toen, maar recent wetenschappenlijk onderzoek sluit dat uit. Vogels zijn niet verwant aan dino's.
Wel is de wetenschap er inmiddels van overtuigd dat de oer-mens het zingen heeft geleerd van de hem omringende vogels. Zo wordt een mens die mooi kan zingen nog altijd een nachtegaaltje genoemd, overal op aarde.

Zelfs heeft de mens als soort de derde dimensie veroverd, al komen de meeste van ons individueel nog nauwelijks van de grond. Maar misschien ontwikkelen we ons in de toekomst zover dat nooit meer een onschuldige vogel levenslang geïsoleerd achter tralies hoeft te leven.

People always have been jealous of birds. What other way is there to explain the folks who keep little birds locked up in small cages. Cruel! Birds (plus bats, fish and a few insects) are the only beings on this planet that truely live 3D. By locking them up you rob them of one whole dimension. Just look at the Poksay bird here above. This little creature should be fluttering among the flowers and trees of the mighty forest, among his feathered collegues.
In the days of my grandparents it was not uncommon to blind a n imprisoned songbird with a knitting needle; allegedly they would sing better without their sight. Disgusting. I can never totally trust a person who keeps animals in small cages. It's their lack of empathy that worries me. And the picture above makes me sad.
At some point i suspected that our species' hatred of birds was en graved in our mammel DNA as a reaction of fear for the giant scary dino's long ago, but recent scientific research
considers that unlikely: birds are not related to dino's after all.
Scientists DO however come to the conclusion that our primitive ancestor learned singing from the birds that surrounded him. Even today a person who can sing really well is called 'a nightingale', all over the globe.
Now our species has even conquered the 3rd dimension themselves, altough most individuals like you and me still have a hard time leaving the ground. Lets hope that we can evolve even more and that in future days no innocent bird have to live solitary locked up behind bars for the rest of his life ever again.
