Στοιχεία, βιογραφικά και άλλα, για τον κιθαρίστα της jazz Στέφανο Ανδρεάδη μπορείτε να βρείτε στο siteτου Τμήματος Μουσικών Σπουδών του Ιονίου Πανεπιστημίου. Ο Ανδρεάδης ανήκει στο διδακτικό προσωπικό της κερκυραϊκής ανώτατης σχολής, όπως ανήκει και στο… σώμα της ελληνικής τζαζ δισκογραφίας δια των άλμπουμ του (και) με το σχήμα Flying Jazz. Το “To Eternity”  [Jadeo / Ankh Productions, 2017] είναι μάλιστα το δεύτερο CD του με τους Flying Jazz (είχε προηγηθεί το φερώνυμο άλμπουμ από το 2013), ένα CD που γίνεται με τη (σημαντική) βοήθεια των Γιώργου Κοντραφούρη hammond, Αλέξανδρου Δράκου Κτιστάκη ντραμς, Δήμου Δημητριάδη τενόρο σαξόφωνο και Ανδρέα Πολυζωγόπουλου τρομπέτα, φλούγκελχορν.

Ο Ανδρεάδης δεν παρουσιάζεται μόνον ως κιθαρίστας στο “To Eternity”, αλλά και ως συνθέτης – ως ο μοναδικός συνθέτης και των επτά κομματιών, που ακούγονται εδώ. Το λέω, γιατί έχει και αυτό τη σημασία του. 

Οι συνθέσεις του, λοιπόν, διακρίνονται κατά πρώτον για τον groovy χαρακτήρα τους. Είναι συνήθως… φουριόζες, έχουν ωραία breaks απ’ όλα τα όργανα, στηρίζονται σε γερές μελωδικές γραμμές, εμφανίζουν soul jazz και latin στοιχεία ωραία ενταγμένα στο σύνολο, ενώ μπορεί να είναι άλλοτε χορευτικές και άλλοτε πιο… spiritual, δίχως να χάνουν ποτέ την επαφή τους με την κίνηση και με την γκρούβα.

Φυσικά, όταν έχεις στη διάθεσή σου τέτοιους και τόσους σολίστες το πράγμα ξεφεύγει… Προς τα πάνω. Προς τα πολύ επάνω. Και το λέω τούτο, γιατί εδώ υπάρχουν κομμάτια αληθινά κοσμήματα για το χώρο τής… απλωμένης πια ελληνικής τζαζ δισκογραφίας, όπως ας πούμε το εισαγωγικό “Temura”, το blues “Our spanish love song (in memory of Charlie Haden)”, το “My Rubal”, το έσχατο “July”… δίχως να υστερεί, εννοείται, κανένα από τα υπόλοιπα.

Οι δάσκαλοι θα πρέπει να είναι πάνω απ’ όλα μαθητές, για να είναι καλοί δάσκαλοι. Και ο Ανδρεάδης σαν ένας άριστος… μαθητής της jazz, με ιδέες, με εμπνεύσεις, με παιξίματα, με όραμα, δεν μπορεί παρά να είναι κι ένας πολύ καλός δάσκαλος. Έτσι λέω...

If you like Molam you have heard her song "Mae Kha Somdam" for sure...its included on the splendid "Sound of Siam" compilation. The LP with this song is "Sao Isaan Ror Rak" (Isaan girl waiting for love), and its amazing. It blends Pop with Molam style, and you will find Isaan pop (the first 2 tracks are related - first Onuma has her saying, and in the second song her male companion answers, a song form that is called "rong gae"), great ballads ("orn sorn siang sor", track 7), funky stuff with wah-wah guitars and traditional Molam.
Actually, there are lots of awesome 45s which are not found on any LP. If you see anything by Onuma Singsiri, just get it...whatever she sang sounded great! But please hear for yourself - enjoy!

Long ago, when there were happy days in Eritrea, i was in Asmara when i heared a beautifull song on the radio. Luckely i was recording and with the song in hand i walked to the radiostation and asked who this fine singer was. A really nice lady told me the artist's name was Tekle Tesfazghi, one of the greatest sons of Eritrea. I readilly agreed and left her a blank tape.

Next day i collected it and wow! What a good collection of old songs she gave me.

These days there is less and less happiness in this small East African country. Tekle has died and many of its inhabitants take refuge in Europe, if they are lucky enough not the be catched, extorted and tortured by arab maffia.
So i dedicate this post to all freedom loving Eritreans in hope of better times...
