“Home Part 1” is the 4th studio release from Scott Matthews. The album is the first to be recorded by Scott himself. During late 2012, Scott had a vision, which was to build a home studio. This, however, was only part of the vision. Upon completion of the studio, the final part of the vision was to set about recording a full length album, without the help of an engineer or producer, which is something that Scott had never attempted before. The result of all this hard work is “Home part 1”, Scott’s most personal and beautiful album to date. Previously Scott was honoured by the guest appearance of Robert Plant on his album “Elsewhere”. “What the Night Delivers” featured another guest performance from legendary double bassist Danny Thompson whom Scott met whilst performing in Joe Boyd’s stage production of “Way to Blue-The Songs of Nick Drake”. “Home Part 1” features mainstay musicians, Sam Martin on drums and the wonderful Danny Keane on cello. Scott’s brother, Darren Matthews also makes an appearance, playing piano on the songs, “The Clearing” and “The Night is Young”.

Ce nouvel album d’Amylie est à la fois délicat et franchement groovy. Si le précédent Le Royaume (2012) était très ambitieux et touffu, celui-ci a les deux pieds sur terre et est réalisé avec grande classe. Les Éclats est une belle bulle intimiste dotée d’une sensibilité pop enviable. En accentuant le disque autour d’une voix pleine de chaleur et de confiance et de riffs de guitare électrique en douceur, l’univers des Éclats fait beaucoup penser à celui toujours enivrant de Feist. À travers la musique, on entend Amylie chanter avec honnêteté à propos de remonter la pente ou encore de la belle unité qui l’unit à ses soeurs. Et que dire des méchants bons grooves que l’on retrouve sur son premier simple L’amour à dos et en début de disque sur La hauteur. Irrésistibles!

News outlets like Okayafrica and Deadline have reported that a new biopic on the dynamic life of the late South African singer Miriam Makeba is in the works. Details regarding the title of the film or the release date are currently unavailable. However, New York fans of the legendary songstress eager to see a tribute to Makeba in the near future can look forward to Dreaming Zenzile at Joe’s Pub at the Public Theater on Dec. 2-4. As described by the venue’s website, Dreaming Zenzile is “a modern jazz opera based on the extraordinary life of South African singer and political activist Miriam Makeba.” The creative force behind this project is Somi, a singer-songwriter of Ugandan and Rwandan descent, who wrote and will perform this opera. You may recognize Somi from our globalFest 2016 photo essay, or her single, “Ginger Me Slowly,” from her most recent album The Lagos Music Salon.
