The Outsider was recorded in Atlanta, Denver, Nashville and Austin during a non-stop touring cycle and mixed by Grammy Award winning engineer/producer Vance Powell (who has worked with the likes of Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell and Jack White). About The Outsider Dayton says, “It’s a lot like my previous album The Revealer, but even more stripped down with some sweet acoustic guitar songs and some raw electric guitar work.” All the influences are there; the George Jones-inspired singing on “Changin’ My Ways,” the Outlaw country twang of Waylon and Jerry Reed on “Belly of the Beast,” the angst and energy of The Clash and X on the hillbilly protest song “Charlottesville,” and the deep east Texas blues and Cajun rockabilly of “May Have To Do It (But I Don’t Have to Like It)” and “Hurtin’ Behind The Pine Curtain.” While there are many different sides to him musically, this all rolls into one big hybrid that Jesse Dayton has been honing for over 20 years.

“Fear is a theme that comes up pretty quickly if you try to understand the strange mood of our society,” says GET WELL SOON’s Konstantin Gropper about his stylistic volte-face from LOVE to THE HORROR. “It seems to be a big common denominator.” Inevitable then, but also entirely in keeping with an artist who has already made an album about the apocalypse – 2012’s grandiose The Scarlet Beast O’Seven Heads – and writes songs titled ‘I Sold My Hands For Food So Please Feed Me’ and ‘We Are Safe Inside While They Burn Down Our House’.

Mansun was one of the most iconic and innovative British bands of the late 90s with Parlophone. They released four classic albums ‘Attack of the Grey Lantern’ (1997), ‘Six’ (1998), ‘Little Kix’ (2000) and the compilation ‘Kleptomania’ following the band’s split as well as a popular and now rare series of EPs. Kscope, having now acquired this impressive catalogue, are running a thorough reissue series that delves into a treasure trove of previously unreleased audio and visual material, including the much-awaited full remaster of their #1 album ‘Attack of the Grey Lantern’.
The band’s output launched them into a fervent cult following, which now holds the annual UK Mansun Convention and started the petition that called for frontman Paul Draper to release his debut solo album ‘Spooky Action’ in August 2017. The solo album, also released on Kscope, hit #19 in the UK album charts and led to a sold-out UK solo tour, during which he performed Mansun’s definitive and most popular track “Wide Open Space”, and its live recording features on Draper’s new live album ‘Live at Scala’. Due to fan-driven popular demand, Paul then played an ambitious second solo tour in early 2018, performing ‘Spooky Action’ as well as ‘Attack of the Grey Lantern’.
This 21st anniversary edition of ‘Attack of the Grey Lantern’ will be released as a CD in mediabook packaging featuring the iconic ‘roses’ cover art and a 16-page booklet including lyrics. These have been re-mastered by Jon Astley (The Who, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Anathema).

Jim Reeves – widely known as Gentleman Jim – was one of the most successful and important country artists of the 1950s and early 60s, his rich, velvet voice bringing a unique sound and style, which was in the vanguard of the new Nashville sound, as the music headed away from honky-tonk fiddles and steel guitars as introduced strings and backing choruses, helping to move the genre towards the pop mainstream. Despite his tragic death in a plane crash in 1964, he was nevertheless able to rack up nearly 50 hits during his lifetime and became one of the most influential personalities in country music in the post-war era. This great-value 80-track 3-CD set comprises the A & B sides of all his singles from his recording debut for the Macys label in 1949 through to 1962, and includes his recordings for the Abbott and RCA labels during those years, plus a duet performance with Ginny Wright released on the Fabor label. It naturally features all his 37 pop and country hits from the era, including the No. 1s Mexican Joe, Bimbo, Billy Bayou, Four Walls and the international smash hit Hell Have To Go, which provided his UK chart breakthrough in 1960. Covering, as it does, the first 15 years or so of his career, it charts the development of his style and sound during an era when country music was becoming more consciously commercial, and experienced the impact of the rock n roll explosion in the mid-50s, following it through into the early years of a decade when he very much flew the flag for country music as the British Invasion brought about more musical changes. Its a fine showcase for one of the genres most enduring stars.

Dennis Coffey is a guitar legend. The ’70s didn’t slow him down for one second as he struck out on his own and had a million selling hit with “Scorpio,” in 1971. He continued his studio session work (notably appearing on “Boogie Fever” by The Sylvers), scored films and produced other artists’ albums like Gallery’s Nice To Be With You and Rodriguez’ Cold Fact. The 2000s have found Dennis appearing on the big screen including the 2002 film Standing In The Shadows Of Motown and the 2012’s Searching For Sugarman. And to this very day you can find him playing every Tuesday night in Detroit. One Night At Morey’s: 1968 is drawn from the residency at Morey Baker’s Showplace Lounge in Detroit by the Lyman Woodard Trio. The trio consisted of Coffey on guitar, brilliant organist, Lyman Woodard, and drummer Melvin Davis, and could be found at Morey’s once a week. They played to a dedicated, often repeat, audience so the band kept the repertoire fresh and changing. One Night At Morey’s: 1968 follows last year’s Hot Coffey In The D: Burnin’ At Morey Baker’s Showplace Lounge released by Resonance Records, also drawn from the Morey’s residency, but with an entirely different track list. All tracks on One Night At Morey’s: 1968 are previously unissued and come directly from the vaults of Dennis Coffey and producer partner, Mike Theodore. Tracks include original compositions, “Big City Lights,” “Mindbender,” and “Union Station,” as well as surprising and funky covers of “Billie’s Bounce” by Charlie Parker, “Burning Spear” by The Soul Strings, “Cissy Strut” by The Meters, “Eleanor Rigby” by The Beatles, “Groovin’” by The YoungRascals, and “I’m A Midnight Mover” by Wilson Pickett from the pen of both Pickett and Bobby Womack.
Previously unissued live set from Detroit in 1968. • Includes covers of songs by The Meters, The Beatles, and Charlie Parker. • Liner Notes include a new interview with Dennis Coffey. From his early work with ’50s/’60s hit makers The Royaltones (who also backed other artists like Del Shannon)—to his run through the Motor City’s independent labels as a session ace—to his pioneering and legendary work with The Funk Brothers, backing band to massive Motown hits like “Just My Imagination,” “Ball Of Confusion (That’s What The World Is Today),” “War,” “Cloud Nine,” “Someday We’ll Be Together” and “Band Of Gold” among many others
