Nashville-based singer-songwriter James House releases an album of Blues, Americana and rock to his fans that have been begging him to do for a long time. His love of blues has always been an undercurrent tone to his tunes.

Created by James in his studio, Cabin In The Woods, located in a rural area of Nashville, he called on some hot shot musicians with great pedigrees to help: Todd Sharp (Rod Stewartm Hall & Oates), Mike Bradford (Uncle Kracker), Will Kimbrough and Kenny Greenberg (an A-list Nashville studio guitarist). He tapped into his vault of songs that fit the sound of the ever-evolving songwriter and pushed the record button, letting the magic happen organically.

Spider Bags are gearing up to drop their first album in four years. Dubbed Someday Everything Will Be Fine, it’s slated for a August 3rd release.

The follow-up to 2014’s Frozen Letter spans a total of 10 tracks, including titles like “Reckless”, “Burning Sand”, and “My Heart is a Flame in Reverse”. It was recorded at Bunker Studio in Memphis by Andrew McCalla, and, according to a statement, makes great use of the Tascam 388, “a vintage recording/mixing device that’s acquired a mythos via its association with legendary records by Dinosaur Jr., East River Pipe, The Black Keys, Ty Segall, and Thee Oh Sees.”

In the studio, Spider Bags were joined by multiple Memphis-based veteran musicians, such as Jack Oblivian, John Whittemore, and Jana Misener and Krista Wroten-Combest of the Memphis Dawls. Especially notable collaborators include Patrick Stickles of Titus Andronicus and the Golden Boys member Matthew Hoopengardner.

Για τον Robert Wilkinsμίλησε για πρώτη φορά στον Dick Spottswood(της Piedmont Recordsσυν τοις άλλοις) ο Bill Givens(της Origin Jazz Librariesσυν τοις άλλοις). Τελικώς, ο εξαφανισμένος μουσικός ανακαλύφθηκε από την σύζυγο τού Spottswood, κάπου στο Memphis, τον Φεβρουάριο του 1964. Ο Wilkinsείχε πρωτομπεί σε στούντιο τον Σεπτέμβριο του 1928, όταν είχε γράψει κάποιες «πλευρές» για την Victor.

Τον Σεπτέμβριο του 1929 ο Robert Wilkins γράφει το “That’s no way to get along” για την Brunswickκαι κάνει επιτυχία, αλλά όλως περιέργως θα ζήσει λίγο μ’ αυτήν, καθότι, τo 1936, θα απαρνηθεί τα εγκόσμια για να γίνει παπάς στην Εκκλησία… of God in Christ. Άρα ως περίεργη θα πρέπει να λογαριάσουμε και την επανεμφάνισή του το 1964 κι ας συνέβη αυτή κυρίως με gospel και όχι τόσο με blues. Εκείνη τη χρονιά (1964) θα συνθέσει μάλιστα κι έναν εξαιρετικό folk ύμνο, το “The prodigal son” (βασισμένος στην παλαιά επιτυχία του), ο οποίος έκανε μεγάλη εντύπωση στην εποχή του (και όχι μόνο λόγω της διάρκειάς του). Διασκευάστηκε, μάλιστα, και από τους Rolling Stones στο “Beggars Banquet” [Decca, 1968], δίχως το όνομά του να αναφέρεται στα credits, στις original εκδόσεις. Μάλιστα, και εξ όσων το έψαξα, η αλήθεια δεν θα αποκατασταθεί νωρίτερα από το 1973. Μπόρεσε, έτσι, ο άξιος αυτός τραγουδοποιός, πέραν της δόξας, να πάρει και κάποια φράγκα…
