ACKIE DESHANNON was one of the most iconic and important singer/songwriters of the second half of the 20th Century.The first wholly comprehensive collection of her early recordings, this unique set features her first sixteen singles, recorded between 1956-62, during which she recorded as Sherry Lee, Jackie Dee and Jackie Shannon, before adopting her more familiar stage name in late 1959.
Includes fans’ favourites like ‘Buddy’, ‘Just Another Lie’, ‘Trouble’ and ‘Baby (When Ya Kiss Me)’, as well as her earliest US hits, ‘The Prince’, ‘You Won’t Forget Me’ and ‘Faded Love’.
A handful of these sides are serious collectors’ rarities, virtually impossible to find elsewhere on CD. Indeed, ‘So Warm’/’Young Girl’s Prayer’ – a rare, cancelled 45rpm release from 1959 – has never been re-released previously, in any format. This compilation is a mandatory purchase for all serious Jackie De Shannon fans/collectors.

Martha Fields brings her ghosts to life in her new album ‘Dancing Shadows’ (to be released September 7, 2018). With her musical roots running deep in both Appalachia and Texas, Martha and her band take you on a soulful and winding voyage through the American South. Illuminating her past and present in this ambitious and varied project – 14 songs and 2 continents, awash in dark and moody tones and saturated with strong, defiant characters, sprinkled with the occasional honky tonk respite, all generously infused with her own authentic southern groove.
Martha wrote, self-produced and recorded her ‘straight from the heart’ opus while in self-exile in the Southwest of France. Imprinted early with the shadows of generations of southern musicians, Martha soaked up their sound and stories, letting them percolate, and now has issued a lush yet gritty gem. Carving her own route through the “Americana” terrain of folk, blues, country, rock and bluegrass and recorded with her touring team of musicians – Manu Bertrand, Serge Samyn, Urbain Lambert, Olivier Leclerc and Denis Bielsa – all able to equally render the bittersweet beauty of her ballads as well as the bodacious bluesy and rocking repetoire. With dobro, lap steel, guitar, slide, double bass, violin, drums and the occasional mandolin and pedal steel, her band compliment her emotionally charged vocals. Monica Taylor (the Cimmaron Songbird) and Travis Fite, both Okies with Cherokee blood, provide luscious harmonies.

Former Barenaked Ladies frontman Steven Page releases his incredible new album ‘Discipline: Heal Thyself Pt. II’!
From the epic soulful ‘Looking For The Light’ to the politically charged power-pop of ‘White Noise’ the album is replete with excellent eclectic songs that show Page is headed somewhere he’s never been before.
Lyrically it will stop at nothing to knock you on your ass. He asks a lot of questions but he doesn’t like giving answers. He’d rather have the conversation in the song. And on Discipline: Heal Thyself, Pt. II, it’s one hell of a conversation.
Recorded at Fresh Baked Woods Studios just outside of Toronto and Vancouver’s Doghouse of Thunder Studio, with long time live bands Odds, The Original Six, and with the help of frequent collaborator Craig Northey, Discipline is Page’s fifth solo album and the spiritual follow-up to 2016’s Heal Thyself, Pt. I: Instinct.
