Wouldn’t It Be Great is the forty-first studio album by American country music singer-songwriter Loretta Lynn. It is scheduled to be released by Sony Legacy on September 28, 2018.[1] The album is produced by Lynn’s daughter Patsy Lynn Russell and John Carter Cash, the son of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash.
The album is the third in a planned series of five albums recorded at Cash Cabin Studio in Hendersonville, Tennessee, following 2016’s Full Circle and White Christmas Blue. The album is a mixture of new songs and new versions of songs Lynn has previously recorded.

Nowhere is this clearer than on a set of newly unearthed recordings, Sing Me Back Home: The DC Tapes, 1965-1969. Sourced from Alice’s private archive and digitized with help from the Southern Folklife Collection at UNC Chapel Hill, the recordings invite us in to witness the creative process of these towering figures-just two voices and a handful of instruments working out arrangements at home. Across 19 tracks the duo sings the classic country of The Carter Family, The Louvin Brothers, and Jimmie Rodgers; contemporary hits of the 1960s penned by Dolly Parton and Merle Haggard; and barn-burning traditional standards that blur the line between old-time and early bluegrass. Sing Me Back Home is a raw, unfiltered listen to Hazel and Alice at the height of their collaborative energy.

Originally released in 1991, Richard Thompson’s sixth solo album arrived during a pivotal period in the English folk-rocker’s catalog. His third collaboration with producer Mitchell Froom (and engineer Tchad Blake), the 14-song collection continued an experimental blending of Thompson’s Celtic roots and the polished, mutant rock ’n’ roll that Froom had also applied to music by Los Lobos, Crowded House, and Elvis Costello. Some fans and critics detected commercial motives; others appreciated weird, multilayered atmospherics. MoFi’s two-LP Original Master Recordings reissue takes the digital edge off the 1991 CD sound, widens and deepens the soundstage, and arrays the instruments more cleanly, although Froom and Blake did build in a certain wooliness. While there is enough mind-blowing electric and acoustic guitar work to support RT’s guitar-god reputation, and the singing was his most soulful to date, it’s not the sound but rather the yield of Thompson repertoire staples—including “I Misunderstood,” “Mystery Wind,” “Keep Your Distance,” “I Feel So Good,” and especially “1952 Vincent Black Lightning”—that makes Rumor and Sigh a timeless classic.
