Πριν λίγο καιρό έφθασε στα χέρια μου το «Έχουμε Υποχρέωση»[Καθρέφτης], που είναι μάλλον το πρώτο και τελευταίο έως ώρας άλμπουμ του Γιώργου Μάρτου. Το άλμπουμ αυτό δεν είναι εντελώς πρόσφατο, προέρχεται από το 2014, αλλά αυτό δεν θα μας εμποδίσει να πούμε λίγα λόγια.

Ο Μάρτος, είναι ένας νεαρός τραγουδοποιός (ίσως είναι ακόμη κάτω από τριάντα), που γράφει ροκ τραγούδια, μπαλάντες μα και κάπως πιο έντονα, όπως και κάποια που φλερτάρουν με το «έντεχνο», έχοντας σχεδόν πάντα κοινωνικοπολιτικό στίχο. Άρα περνάει τη βάση από τ’ αποδυτήρια… Εννοώ πως στην περίπτωση τού συγκεκριμένου CD έχουμε να κάνουμε εξ αρχής με κάτι ενδιαφέρον. Το θέμα τώρα είναι αν αυτά τα τραγούδια, πέραν των προθέσεών τους, που είναι οπωσδήποτε σοβαρές και σωστές, είναι αληθινά τραγούδια και όχι σχεδιάσματα ή κατασκευάσματα, που ρέπουν προς την καταγγελία, χοντρικώς, πότε του ενός και πότε του άλλου.

Λοιπόν, ο Μάρτος γράφει καλά ή και πολύ καλά τραγούδια – τραγούδια με αρχή, μέση και τέλος και μάλιστα δίχως να καταφεύγει σε στιχουργικά πασαλείμματα (παρά τις κάποιες, αναγκαίες σε κάθε περίπτωση, υπεραπλουστεύσεις). Έτσι, από τη μια μεριά υπάρχουν οι απλές, αλλά λειτουργικές μελωδίες του και από την άλλη λόγια σαν και τούτα… «πιασμένοι στον ιστό μιας ευρωπαίας αράχνης / τα ρούχα μας μυρίζουν αρρωστιάρικους καπνούς / παιγμένοι στα χαρτιά μιας διεθνούς απάτης / και κάποιοι να μιλάνε για ανισόρροπους καιρούς».

Τα τραγούδια του Μάρτου είναι γραμμένα πριν το 2014, στα σκληρά χρόνια των δύο πρώτων μνημονίων και των λαϊκών αγωνιστικών κινητοποιήσεων, που πήγαν παράλληλα μ’ εκείνα. Υπ’ αυτή την έννοια τα τραγούδια του, σε γενικές γραμμές, ακούγονται και σήμερα «μια χαρά», πάντα κοντά σε ό,τι συμβαίνει και που θα συμβαίνει για δεκαετίες… «Τάξεις, θεσμοί και χρήμα / μα η Ιθάκη ακόμη να φανεί / ιμπεριαλιστική προοπτική / του ανθρώπου το αιώνιο κρίμα / Δούλοι και αφέντες των καιρών / νόθο σκοτάδι των ψυχών».

Χωράνε βελτιώσεις στα τραγούδια ή μάλλον στην τραγουδοποιία του Μάρτου (γιατί τα συγκεκριμένα άσματα πάει… γράφτηκαν και τυπώθηκαν); Οπωσδήποτε ναι. Και οι μελωδίες μπορεί να γίνουν ακόμη ωραιότερες και τα λόγια, ακόμη πιο σφιχτά και πιο πειστικά, αν και νομίζω πως εκεί όπου χωράει πιο πολύ δουλειά είναι στον ήχο, στις ενοργανώσεις. Είναι κάπως κοινό αυτό (το ηχόχρωμα) που ακούω, και δεν ξέρω πώς, με ποιο τρόπο θα μπορέσει να αναδειχτεί περισσότερο το… μεδούλι των τραγουδιών τού Μάρτου. Τούτο θα πρέπει να το σκεφτεί ο ίδιος, δίπλα σ’ έναν παραγωγό, που θα του προτείνει πράγματα και που θα τον βοηθήσει. Ίσως να ταιριάζει η «αφαίρεση» στα κομμάτια του Μάρτου. Δεν ξέρω… αλλά κάτι άλλο απαιτείται. Ας το ψάξει και ας το τολμήσει εν όψει και του επόμενου άλμπουμ του, που μάλλον δεν θα αργήσει πολύ…

Hoe deze muziekstijl wordt genoemd weet ik niet precies.
De groep komt van de Kaap Verdische Eilanden, Luis Morais
werkt erop mee. Het is geen morna of coladera. In het eerste
nummer hoor je dat ze het over samba hebben, in de titels lees
je cumbia, merengue en carnaval, hoe dan ook, deels instrumentaal
en deels gezongen vind ik het zeer het beluisteren waard, kijk zelf
wat je ervan vindt en geef hem weer door..

How to call this musical style, I really wouldn’t know exactly. The
group is from the Cape Verdian Islands, Luis Morais participates.
It is no morna and no coladera. During the first song we hear they
mention it to be samba, in the titles we read cumbia, merengue
and carnaval. One way or the other, partly instrumental and partly
sung I think it is very much worth listening to. Make up your own
mind about it and pass it on to your friends..
