ΤΟ «ΚΑΛΟΚΑΙΡΙ ΤΗΣ ΑΓΑΠΗΣ» 50 χρόνια πριν, στην Ελλάδα του ’67 – Οι χίπιδες, η αριστερά, η «ψυχεδελική πληροφόρηση», τα ξένα τραγούδια και άλλα διάφορα
Πολύς ντόρος γίνεται για το λεγόμενο «καλοκαίρι της αγάπης», καθώς εφέτος συμπληρώνονται 50 χρόνια από τότε. Διαβάζω διάφορα κείμενα από ’δω κι από ’κει, ελληνικά κείμενα εννοώ, όλα σχεδόν πρόχειρα και ανερμάτιστα. Αν και τα περισσότερα αποτελούν φτηνές αντιγραφές από ξένα σάιτ, γεμάτα λάθη και ανακρίβειες, υπάρχουν και ορισμένα που θέλουν να πρωτοτυπήσουν συνδέοντας το καλοκαίρι του ’67, το «καλοκαίρι της αγάπης», με τη χώρα μας, γράφοντας και για την «ελληνική περίπτωση». Εκεί το μπάχαλο είναι ακόμη πιο μεγάλο, καθώς η έλλειψη (εγχώριων) στοιχείων και η γενικότερη κριτική θεώρηση των καταστάσεων είναι, τελικά, για να τρελαίνεσαι.

Κατ’ αρχάς εκείνο που πρέπει να πούμε είναι πως ο ελληνικός χιπισμός (ας τον πούμε έτσι) δεν είχε ουδεμία σχέση με το κίνημα των hippies στην Αμερική (από τα μέσα του ’65 έως και τα μέσα του ’67 – ας πάρουμε την πρώτη εποχή του), και πως απλώς συσχετίστηκε με κάποια τμήματα τού εξαγώγιμου προϊόντος που ονομάστηκε (από τους εμπόρους και τους διαφημιστές) «καλοκαίρι της αγάπης», την εποχή όπου οι hippies προβάλλονταν απ’ όλα τα αμερικάνικα μέσα, με το TIME π.χ. να κραυγάζει ήδη από εξωφύλλου The Hippies/ Philosophy of a Subculture (7 Ιουλίου 1967).
Αν και ο (κυρίαρχος) αμερικάνικος Τύπος είχε αρχίσει να ασχολείται με την αντικουλτούρα μετά την επιτυχία τού Human Be-In τής 14/1/1967, που μετατόπιζε το κίνημα των hippies ή μάλλον το συνέδεε (για τον πολύ κόσμο) και με τον πολιτικό ριζοσπαστισμό (το LIFE της 17/2/1967 κυκλοφορεί με εξώφυλλο τoν Ed Sanders των Fugs και με λεζάντες τού τύπου “Happenings/ The worldwide underground of the arts creates The Other Culture”), το «καλοκαίρι της αγάπης» και ό,τι αυτό συμπεριλάμβανε (από το εμπορικό κόλπο Monterey Pop Festival μέχρι οτιδήποτε άλλο) δεν ήταν παρά ένα ακόμη «θέμα» που θα διατράνωνε την ελευθερία της έκφρασης στις ΗΠΑ εν αντιθέσει με ό,τι συνέβαινε, ας πούμε, στον «μισητό κομμουνισμό».
Μέσα από αυτό το πλαίσιο, της ψυχροπολεμικής εξαγωγής της χίπικης προπαγάνδας στα τέλη των σίξτις, δεν θα μπορούσε φυσικά να λείψει και η χουντοκρατούμενη Ελλάς, η οποία, θέλοντας και μη, θα επιχειρούσε να προβάλλει την hippie αισθητική μέσα από τα εξώφυλλα των νεανικών και οικογενειακών περιοδικών της (και δεν αναφέρομαι μόνο στα ψυχεδελικά τεύχη των Μοντέρνων Ρυθμών, τα #98, #99 και #100, που κυκλοφόρησαν στις αρχές του ’68), τροφοδοτώντας με ανάλογα θέματα το θέατρο, τον κινηματογράφο, την τηλεόραση κ.λπ. Χίπιδες και καλοκαίρια, αγάπες και λουλούδια, και όλα τα υπόλοιπα σχετικά παραφερνάλια αποτελούσαν «κοινό τόπο», παρά τις κραυγές ορισμένων (Εκκλησία, φασιστογραφιάδες) που έρχονταν από το μεσαίωνα.
Έτσι, και παρ’ όλη την προσπάθεια ορισμένων εντύπων και φυλλάδων να τρομοκρατήσουν τον κόσμο εν σχέσει με τον χιπισμό (εγχώριο και τουριστικό) δεν σταμάτησαν να γυρίζονται ταινίες (Θου-Βου Φαλακρός Πράκτωρ Επιχείρησις Γης Μαδιάμ, Η Θεία μου η Χίππισα, Μαριχουάνα Στοπ, Ένας Χίππυς με Τσαρούχια, Ένας Χίππυς με Φιλότιμο, Βίβα Μανέλο), ν’ ανεβαίνουν θεατρικά (Χίπισσα Ιωάννα, Χίππιδες και Ντιρλαντάδες), να γράφονται βιβλία (Οι Δύο Χίππεις), να παράγονται χίπικοι ελληνικοί δίσκοι στην πορεία (Poll), να ράβονται και να προβάλλονται χίπικες κολεξιόν κ.λπ.
Εν αντιθέσει όμως με τους έλληνες χίπιδες, που ασχολούνταν μόνο με φρου-φρου κι αρώματα, οι αμερικανοί hippies ήταν από τους πρώτους στις αντιπολεμικές διαδηλώσεις για το Βιετνάμ, παρότι, χοντρικά, κρατούσαν αποστάσεις από την πολιτική. Να υπενθυμίσουμε, εδώ, την Vietnam Day Committee, δηλαδή τις αντιπολεμικές μαζώξεις του Jerry Rubinκ.ά., στις οποίες παρευρίσκονταν και hippies ήδη από το ’65. Μάλιστα, σ’ ένα τέτοιο sit-in, στο San Francisco State College, την 15η Οκτωβρίου εκείνης της χρονιάς είχαν συμμετάσχει και οι Country Joe & the Fish (τραγουδώντας προφανώς και τον αντιπολεμικό ύμνο τους “The I-feel-like-I’m-fixin’-to-die rag”).

Makan « Badjé » Tounkara is a jali, a griot. He is the grandson of the great Djeli Baba Sissoko (1922-2001), who was acknowledged by his peers as the “leader of Malian Jalis” in the 1990s.
Badjé has been pursuing a rich career, notably alongside such renowned artists as Salif Keïta, Baba Maal, Ami Koïta, Tata Bambo, Kandia Kouyaté and his aunt Mah Damba, with whom he has recorded two albums. Makan Tounkara is also at the origin of an instrumental innovation: he has added three strings to his ngoni. Traditionally equipped with four strings, this lute of the jalis is to be found – under diverse names (koni, kontigo, gambare) and with slight variations– amongst all Mande peoples.
