Houston, Texas has one of the largest populations of Nigerians in the United States, which makes it the perfect city for the second show in the One Africa Music Fest concert brand. The first show kicked off in July at the Barclays Center with a stellar line up of some of the hottest Afrobeats stars. The Oct. 22 Houston sequel presented by Paul Okoye’s Upfront & Personal did not disappoint, with some of the same Naija pop stars that were at the Barclays Center like Flavour and Banky W at the Toyota Center in Houston. Also in attendance was a solid Nigerian cohort: 2Face Idiba, D’banj, J. Martins, Harrysong, Olamide, Kcee, P Square, Reekado Banks, Skales, Tekno, Seyi Shay and Vector tha Viper. Aside from Nigerian artists, also performing was singer/songwriter Efya representing Ghana, Cabo Snoop of Angola, Vanessa Mdee of Tanzania, American r&b singer Sisqo, and Houston-based rapper Lil’ Keke.
The One Africa Music Fest is turning into a winning formula, giving Afrobeats music lovers in the United States a one-stop, expertly curated show of all their favorite artists. We can’t imagine such a successful series would stop here, and can’t wait to see where it will go next!
