Alejandro Escovedo – The Crossing (2018)
320 kbps | 138 MB | LINKS
Drawing up a family tree of Alejandro Escovedo’s lengthy career results in a small forest with branches spread out across punk, rock and alt-country. Now 67, he’s been in bands like The Nuns, Rank and File and the True Believers; his family includes niece Sheila E., his brothers were in groups like L.A. punk pioneers the Zeroes, and he’s released over a dozen solo albums since his excellent 1992 debut, “Gravity,” including three thundering collections produced by David Bowie collaborator Tony Visconti.
Texas-born to Mexican immigrants, Escovedo describes “The Crossing” as saying “more about me than any of my records, without it being a record about me.” Nominally, the songs are about a pair of immigrants — Salvo from Italy, Diego from Mexico — whose Texan experiences with the American Dream don’t quite match their expectations. But mentions of the Zeroes, the Stooges, Johnny Thunders, MC5, the Plugz and other marvels of American culture, as well as U.S. and Mexican writers and poets, put Escovedo in the middle of the story, even if it may not really be him.
Recorded in Italy with local band Don Antonio, whose leader Antonio Gramentieri co-wrote the album, and with a handful of guests like fellow Texan Joe Ely (excellent on his Warren Zevon-like ballad “Silver City”) and MC5 guitarist Wayne Kramer, “The Crossing” has a story that doesn’t bode well, even if it claims to have no ending: “If I could make a wish/We’d never gotten into this.”

Good Charlotte – Generation Rx (2018)
320 kbps | 72 MB | LINKS
GOOD CHARLOTTE highly anticipated seventh full-length studio album, “Generation Rx”. Directed by Jake Stark, the introspective clip examines the album’s prevailing lyrical themes of trauma, pain, and loneliness.
“Generation Rx” is due for release on September 14 via a newly minted global partnership between the band’s MDDN label and BMG. The disc represents both a new chapter and full circle moment for the group — brothers Joel (vocals) and Benji Madden (guitar, vocals), Billy Martin (guitar), Paul Thomas (bass) and Dean Butterworth (drums). Powered by punk spirit, rock songcraft, and cinematic ambition, they retain the signature vitality and vulnerability of their formative years, while delivering an urgent, unafraid, and undeniable message befitting of two decades in the game.
The quintet crafts intricate-yet-infectious anthems of hope for a generation under the shadow of the opioid epidemic, icons gone too soon, mass tragedy, loneliness, and confusion. Produced by Zakk Cervini and Benji during intimate sessions at MDDN headquarters, the record finds GOOD CHARLOTTE doing what they do best — speaking directly to the youth.
Willie Nelson – My Way (2018)
320 kbps | 82 MB | LINKS
My Way, Willie Nelson’s new studio album, explores his admiration and connection to Frank Sinatra’s art and artistry across 11 fresh, intoxicating takes on songs made famous by the Chairman of the Board. Recorded in the tradition of 1978s legendary Stardust and 2016s Grammy Award-winning Summertime: Willie Nelson Sings Gershwin, My Way is a warm and personal nod from one icon to another. Included are Willie’s takes on timeless tunes like “Summer Wind,” “It Was A Very Good Year,” “I’ll Be Around,” “Fly Me To The Moon,” “What Is This Thing Called Love” (cast as a duet with fellow Grammy winner Norah Jones) and, of course, the anthemic “My Way.” Add Willie’s stalwart backing band plus lush arrangements for full string and horn sections – all produced by Grammy winners Buddy Cannon and Matt Rollings – and you’ve got an album that’s as cool as it gets.
Paul Weller – True Meanings [Deluxe Edition] (2018)
320 kbps | 174 MB | LINKS
‘True Meanings’, the fourteenth Paul Weller solo album, the twenty sixth studio album of his entire career, is a record unlike any he has ever made before.
‘True Meanings’, is released on September 14th and is an album characterised by grandiose-yet-delicate, lush orchestration: an aesthetic to which Paul’s better-than-ever voice, singing some of his most nakedly honest words, is perfectly suited. A dreamy, peaceful, pastoral set of songs to get lost in, it is both an album that a lot of his faithful audience have been wanting him to make for a long time, and an album that many new people outside of that audience will relate to.
As well as all the members of Weller’s band, Rod Argent of the Zombies provides Hammond organ on ‘The Soul Searchers’ and piano and Mellotron on ‘White Horses’; folk legends Martin Carthy and Danny Thompson add picked guitar and double bass respectively to ‘Come Along’; Little Barrie plays lead guitar on ‘Old Castles’; Lucy Rose sings backup on ‘Books’; and ‘Movin On’ is the result of a “scratchy demo”on Paul’s phone that was sent to Tom Doyle of the White Label project. Even Noel Gallagher makes a sneaky appearance.
Perhaps most surprisingly of all, especially given how personal and introspective ‘True Meanings’ feels, lyrics for four of the fourteen songs here were written, to Weller’s melodies, by others. Connor O’Brien from Villagers came up with the words to opener ‘The Soul Searchers’, while ‘Bowie’, ‘Wishing Well’ and the closing ‘White Horses’ are all the work, lyrically, of Erland Cooper from Erland & The Carnival.
‘True Meanings’ was produced by Paul Weller except ‘The Soul Searchers’, which was co-produced by Paul and Conor O’Brien and ‘Movin On’ which was co-produced by Weller and White Label. The album was engineered and recorded by Charles Rees and mixed by Jan Stan Kybert.
The album was recorded in just over 3 weeks at Paul’s own Black Barn Studio, with the aforementioned, revolving cast of characters dropping in for a day here and there. The orchestration was added soon after, and that was that. It is always a good sign when the recording of an album is swift, and here you can just hear that the man at the centre of these songs is as focused and inspired – more inspired, even – than he has ever been.
Música Tropical, vol.8 – Various Artists Discos Fuentes 1982
cd’s. Geweldig leuk natuurlijk, bijna alles meegenomen. Dit is er één van.
Im making an exception today by posting the music from a ceedee.
It is from 1982 and contains a bunch of Colombian hits. Quite some
years ago I sent an email to Discos Fuentes to ask them if there would
be an adress somewhere nearby here where I could find their releases.
They kindly responded to tell me there was a tiny record store close
to the Amsterdam Dapper Market who once bought some of their
releases. I found a nice pile of cd’s there and bought the lot. very
nice off course. This is one of them, enjoy listening again..

Malcolm Holcombe – Come Hell Or High Water (2018)
320 kbps | 112 MB | LINKS
Featuring collaborations with celebrated roots-music couple Iris DeMent and Greg Brown, the 13-track album is trademark Malcolm Holcombe. Chiseled out of a life abundant in both hard times and sweet ones, with an ache of loveliness and loneliness, of torment and hope, woven throughout, his songs paint vivid portraits, turning them into haunting, brooding, moving affairs. Recorded at Dagotown Recorders in Boston, MA, Come Hell or High Water was produced by Marco Giovino and Jared Tyler. Holcombe was joined in studio by Jared Tyler (mandola, dobro, classical guitar, harmony vocals), Marco Giovino (drums, percussion), Iris DeMent (harmony vocals) and Greg Brown (harmony vocals).
The Doors – Waiting For The Sun [50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition] (2018)
320 kbps | 178 MB | LINKS
The 1968 long-player features the band’s second US number one, Hello, I Love You (its B-side Love Street is the second track on Waiting For The Sun) and it reached the summit on the American album charts too, the only Doors album to achieve this feat.
In September, Rhino will issue a 50th anniversary deluxe edition of The Doors‘ third album Waiting For The Sun.This 50th anniversary reissue is a three-disc set – two CDs and a vinyl record – and features a newly remastered version of the stereo mix of the album (by Bruce Botnick) on both CD and the vinyl.
The second CD offers 14 previously unreleased tracks: Rough mixes of nine songs from the album, as well as five tracks performed live in Copenhagen in September 1968. Of the ‘recently discovered’ rough mixes Botnick has this to say: “I prefer some of these rough mixes to the finals, as they represent all of the elements and additional background vocals, different sensibilities on balances, and some intangible roughness, all of which are quite attractive and refreshing.” The bonus tracks on the 40th anniversary reissue haven’t been repeated here.
