Legendary drummer Carmine Appice is scheduled to re-release his GUITAR ZEUS project, a compilation album featuring a who’s who list of the best and world-renowned guitarists on the planet backed by his core band featuring Tony Franklin (THE FIRM, BLUE MURDER) on bass, Kelly Keeling (TSO, MSG) on vocals, keys and rhythm guitar, and Appice on drums.

Originally released as two separate albums in 1995 and 1997, this new re-mastered album (by Stephen DeAcutis; VANILLA FUDGE, Corey Glover, OVERKILL, Cyndi Lauper) combines both releases as one complete version on January 18 for the first time ever across all digital platforms, as well as feature five brand new songs with Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, Pat Travers, John Norum, and top Japanese guitarists RaiZi and Char. Select songs will also be available on a special limited-edition vinyl and CD.

Carmine Appice’s GUITAR ZEUS showcases the complete and prolific talents of many world-renowned rock guitarists, including Brian May, Slash, Neil Schon, Yngwie Malmsteen, Bruce Kulick, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, Paul Gilbert, Mick Mars, Richie Sambora, Zakk Wylde, Bob Daisley, Dweezil Zappa, Vivian Campbell, Leslie West, Warren DeMartini, Steve Morse, Ty Tabor (KING’S X), Ted Nugent, Doug Pinnick, John Norum and others.

“The GUITAR ZEUS project, for me, was an amazing experience that has never been done before by a drummer, especially with so much talent on one album!” Carmine said. “You get your money’s worth! Writing all the songs with my band (Tony and Kelly) and then picking out songs for each guitarist was a fun and time-consuming process, especially coordinating everybody’s schedules and recording sessions.

Though Danny Burns’ debut, North Country (Pinecastle Records), is set to be released on January 18th , he is anything but a musical newcomer. Growing up in the Irish county of Donegal, he was exposed to Irish folk music at an early age, and has since cut his teeth living across the pond in New York City, New Orleans, Chicago, and the Maryland suburbs of D.C. It’s apparent that he’s made his rounds touring the world and impressing the best of them, as North Country features some amazing guests on the album: Tift Merritt, Holly Williams, Mindy Smith, Cara Dillon, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Tim O’Brien, Dan Tyminski, Critter Fuqua (of Old Crow Medicine Show), and Chessboxer.

Like most great songwriters, Burns’ songs focus on where he has been and what he has experienced. There are a few tales about Irish history and growing up in Ireland (see “Darling Roisin,” “North Country,” or “Great Big Sea”), and he uses this as a platform to also showcase his musical Irish roots: “Great Big Sea” could easily live within a proper Irish Seisun at your local Irish pub, while “Darling Roisin” displays some genuine Irish balladry.

If you’re not one of the lucky ones who gets to set sail with Buddy Miller and all his friends on Cayamo each year, you’re in luck – Miller just announced that performances from the 2014 and 2015 excursions would be made available via New West Records on January 29, 2016.

Cayamo Sessions at Sea features 11 tracks and a number of Miller’s most famous friends, including Kacey Musgraves, Brandi Carlile, Lucinda Williams and many more. Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood scored Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood. Not only did it earn Greenwood a Grammy nomination, but it marked the beginning of a lucrative partnership between the composer and director that has led to several more stellar collaborations, including on 2012’s The Master, 2014’s Inherent Vice, and 2017’s Phantom Thread.
