Sheryl Crow will release a new album, entitled Be Myself, on April 21st via Warner Bros. Records. Be Myself, her ninth studio album and the first album for the label is available for pre-order now.
For this album, Crow worked again with producer, musician, and songwriter Jeff Trott, a long-time collaborator throughout her career. Trott co-wrote many of Crow’s classic hits including “If It Makes You Happy” and “My Favorite Mistake.” Crow says her main goal was “to investigate what made my early songs strike people as being authentic and original. So for the first time in my life, I made it a point to sit down and really listen to my old records. I’d drive my kids to school and play the old stuff as I came back home. That helped me remember what it felt like when I was just beginning as an artist. But it wasn’t about repeating myself. It was about revisiting where I came from and seeing where that would take me now.”
Be Myself is like each of her preceding releases: thoughtful and candid. It’s unlike them too, mainly in that it represents contradictory movement — a look at the world today powered in part by a return to the energy that first lofted Crow and her music into the limelight.

Zukva es el título del nuevo trabajo del grupo bosnio Divanhana, que interpreta música tradicional con nuevos arreglos creados bajo la influencia del jazz, el pop y la música clásica del siglo XX. La intención de Divanhana es presentar la música urbana, no sólo de Bosnia y Herzegovina, sino también la música tradicional de toda la región de los Balcanes, con un acento particular en el estilo llamado Sevdah o Sevdalinka. La música Sevdah es el equivalente bosnio al fado portugués. Al igual que el fado, Sevdah (que deriva de la palabra turca "mal de amores") expresa los estados de ánimo románticos, la tristeza del amor perdido y la pasión adquirida, comparable a la saudade.
Divanhana fue fundado a principios de 2009 por un grupo de jóvenes estudiantes de la Academia de Música de Sarajevo. La banda grabó su disco debut Dert en 2011 en el estudio Fattoria Musica de Osnabruck (Alemania) en cooperación con Vanja Muhović. El álbum es el resultado de una investigación etnomusicóloga de dos años reflejada en el hecho de que algunas de las canciones del disco nunca fueron grabadas o publicadas antes.
En 2012, Divanhana fue invitado a participar en dos prestigiosos festivales, uno en Oporto llamado "12 Points" (dedicado al descubrimiento y promoción de jóvenes talentos del jazz europeo) como el único representante de los Balcanes. Al mismo tiempo, la banda fue seleccionada para participar en el evento mundial más importante de música, WOMEX, en Tesalónica en 2012. Ese mismo, la gira llevó a la banda a festivales de Europa Central y del Este: Hungría, Eslovenia, Croacia y Serbia. Entre los conciertos, la banda estuvo continuamente grabando en Belgrado, logrando gran éxito de audiencia con los singles grabados.

A principios de 2013, Divanhana inició su primera gira europea, con exitosos conciertos en Suecia, Alemania, República Checa y Turquía. El álbum Bilješke iz Šestice (lanzado en noviembre de 2013) coronó los dos años de gira, viaje y trabajo creativo de la banda. Después de la publicación de éste segundo trabajo, la banda se presentó en 70 exitosos conciertos en 13 países diferentes de Europa. El extraordinario interés creado en la audiencia hizo que se presentaran cuatro veces en el Balkan Trafik Festival de Bruselas.
En mayo de 2014 publicaron el tema "Zvijezda tjera mjeseca", grabado como la canción oficial de la selección nacional de fútbol de Bosnia y Herzegovina para celebrar su participación en la Copa del Mundo de Brasil. Poco después, la canción se convirtió en un éxito regional, contando con la participación del rey macedonio de la trompeta Džambo Agušev y el virtuoso de la guitarra Emir Hot, de Tuzla.
En febrero de 2015, los miembros de la banda, junto con el productor Borjan Milošević, tomaron un breve descanso de la densa agenda de conciertos para grabar nuevo material en el estudio Fattoria Musica en Osnabrück (Alemania). En mayo del mismo año, en el ambiente creativo del estudio Long Play de Sarajevo, la banda experimentó con el sonido y enriqueció su arte con las melodías de la tamburica eslava, la suavidad de la guitarra clásica de Boško Jović y el violonchelo de Lana Kostić, el virtuoso y creativo violinista serbio Filip Krumes. Y, finalmente, en colaboración con la joven y talentosa artista de Sevdah, Naida Čatić.
Todo el trabajo creativo realizado durante el año 2015 fue unificado y editado bajo un simbólico nombre: Zukva. Zukva es una manzana amarga que crece en Bosnia y Herzegovina, símbolo de las fuertes raíces del patrimonio histórico y cultural de Bosnia y Herzegovina. La banda continúa su viaje por la región de los Balcanes, recogiendo en su bolsa la rica herencia musical de la zona, melodía por melodía, como un cesto de manzanas pequeñas. Bruce Robison has taken his time releasing Bruce Robison & the Back Porch Band. Available on April 28, the album marks his first solo project since 2008 (The New World).

Robison has been making music professionally for decades, including No. 1 hits for Dixie Chicks, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, and George Strait, but he has never lost his genuine enthusiasm for music – writing it, recording it, playing it, sharing it. He literally can’t keep it to himself, and you feel that urgency of discovery and passion on every cut of this new album. Robison has also poured that passion into his new project, The Next Waltz, a blossoming community of artists, fans and friends gathering both virtually and at his recording studio in Lockhart, just outside of Austin. With impeccable musical taste and ability, Robison is a trusted North Star for anyone searching for music that is rooted in rich traditions and untethered creativity.

“Writing is where it all starts for me,” he explains. “Whether it’s my writing, or songs I want to do with somebody else. I love the mechanics of it; how simple it can be.”

Keeping it simple was the guiding principle behind the album, which is a collection of Robison originals, co-writes, and covers that capture country’s most beloved stylistic elements: good-time, lighthearted romps (“Rock and Roll Honky Tonk Ramblin’ Man;” “Paid My Dues”) and wistful, sometimes bittersweet ballads (“Long Time Coming;” “Still Doin’ Time”). But even the Who’s “Squeezebox” — which Robison calls “a great country song by some English dudes” — shows up, in a lively version dressed with Cajun fiddle by Warren Hood and acoustic guitar and harmonies by Robison’s wife, Kelly Willis. Robison’s last two albums were with Willis (Cheaters Game and Our Year) and while they are currently creating separately, Robison found the perfect love song to record for this album (he says he’s incapable of writing one of his own): Damon Bramblett’s “The Years,” a sweet, slow waltz with harmony from Willis.

The album reflects other influences as well: Christie Hayes’ “Lake of Fire” displays his love of the ‘70s West Coast sound embodied by Jackson Browne and Linda Ronstadt.

“I’m always collecting songs,” he says. “That’s what The Next Waltz is about, too; I’m just a fan of songs, and I love the way they come alive in the hands of the right artist.”

The Next Waltz is a musical salon where you can find Jerry Jeff Walker’s ruminations on writing “Mr. Bojangles,” an exclusive recording of Randy Rogers singing Merle Haggard’s “Misery and Gin,” the Turnpike Troubadours performing “Come As You Are,” or Rodney Crowell telling Robison and Willis about how he came to own one of John Lennon’s suits.

Robison has created a place where songs are re-imagined, with reinvigorated covers and crafted new works. Meanwhile, he’s cultivating a house band he hopes might one day be as revered as Stax Records’ Booker T. & the M.G.’s or Muscle Shoals’ Swampers. The Back Porch Band does it old-school, all analog, cutting songs together in one paneled room where “happy accidents and all kinds of things that just feel real,” including sound bleed, are allowed to occur.

Next Waltz sessions are documented on video, along with interviews in which Robison, speaking artist-to-artist, often draws out stories journalists don’t. The content is designed to let fans peek behind the curtain to witness the creative process, not only providing unique insights, but tightening their connection to the proverbial unbroken circle of country music. That influence extends far beyond songwriting; Robison’s ultimate dream for The Next Waltz is to follow in the late Guy and Susanna Clark’s footsteps by providing a safe, welcoming place for artists, a haven where musicians can socialize, inspire one another artistically and find a creative, emotional and spiritual nourishment.

The windows are rolled down; fresh air pours in: “It’s all about performing the song and seeing where it takes us,” says Robison, “and having great players in a real collaborative atmosphere.”

Seguramente al noventa y ocho por ciento de los seguidores rock n´roll de este país el nombre de El Sueño Eterno no signifique nada, pero yo me quiero incluir en ese dos por ciento, que consideran sus dos trabajos verdaderas joyas las cuales sufrieron la incomprensión de los seguidores de aquella época. El Sueño Eterno fue una formación barcelonesa que estuvo integrada por gente que provenía de bandas reconocidas como Bruque o Ktulu, liderada por Ángel Fernández –vocalista del mítico grupo hardcore GRB – al que considero uno de los letristas en castellano más singulares de los que he conocido (y escuchado). El Sueño Eterno comienza su andadura en el año noventa, músicos experimentados con ganas de realizar algo nuevo. Y vaya si lo consiguieron, un año después, se publicaba “Hierro A Fondo”, un debut que recibió grandes criticas, pero que sus incursiones punks y su variedad compositiva, no acabo de fraguar ni en el panorama del rock urbano – movimiento puntero de aquella época -, ni mucho menos en la escena metálica que en aquellos años andaba en estado comatoso. Pero aún así quedaron para la historia grandes canciones como “Día tras Día” (una revisión de un tema de los antes citados GRB), “Delito de Faldas”, “Mary” o el tema que da título al álbum con un letra sorprendentemente optimista al contrario de los mensajes que se trasmitian por el resto de los grupos de aquella época.
