Hallo allemaal.
Dit is even een kort bericht om jullie allen mede te delen dat ik nog leef. Niet kapot te krijgen. Na een hersenbloeding in 2007 en kanker in 2014 hoef ik alleen nog maar een hartaanval te doorstaan en ik ben onsterfelijk. Yeah!
Ik zie dat er flink wat verzoeken zijn gedaan om allerlei links te verversen, maar oef, dat is een hele klus en ik moet weer helemaal wennen hoe dit ook al weer gaat en werkt.
Dus hier een paar links om te proberen.

This is a short message to let you all know that i am still alive. Indestructable! After a brain haemorrhage in 2007 and cancer in 2014 i only have to survive a heart attack and i will be immortal. Yeah!
There are request in this blogs mailbox to refresh al lot of deceased links. Really a lot. I am a bit weary to commit myself to all this work. And i really forgot how to do all this. Oke, it's not very difficult, i know.
Well, we'll see what happens. The links currently presented here are to get myself used to all this voodoo again. (f.e. i forgot all passwords to mediafire etc.)

Phil Manzanera – Live At The Curious Arts Festival (2017)

British guitarist best known for his work with Roxy Music. Live At The Curious Arts Festival captures Manzanera and the band’s show stopping performance at this well-known UK literary festival, held in July 2015. The set list included storming versions of Roxy classics, such as ‘Take a Chance with Me’, ‘More Than This’ and ‘Love is the Drug’ with Sonia Bernardo giving these songs an electrifying new twist, she is indeed a star in the making. The band packed full of talent, many still in their 20’s, crackled and sizzled, inspiring Manzanera, whose playing on this set shows just why he is one of the world’s greatest guitarists.

Throughout his fourth album, Itinerant Arias, Christopher Paul Stelling repeatedly returns to images of rising waters and warnings of a coming flood. Such are apt metaphors for the current time when both sides of the political spectrum feel threatened by forces they can neither control nor fully understand and when our social discourse is awash with apocalyptic paranoia.
The bulk of Itinerant Arias, was written on the road as Stelling supported his 2015 Anti-Records debut, Labor Against Waste, both in the U.S. and abroad, and the struggles he observed in his travels have colored this record. Stelling describes the new album’s conception in almost prophetic terms, describing himself as writing “about something that hadn’t happened yet” and playing the new songs for audiences who weren’t willing or able to see the changing landscape, “and now it’s happened”. He continues that “I’m not patting myself on the back about it,” but those experiences strengthened his resolve and fuel the passion at the heart of these songs.
Much of what Stelling saw in his travels was troubling, and several of the album’s strongest cuts confront his anger at the state of things. “Ain’t it funny what a man will do to be another brick in the tower?”, he sings in “The Cost of Doing Business”, confronting the growing complacency of the minions who perpetuate the blind, dehumanizing greed of our corporate structures. In “Sleep Baby Sleep” he declares that “When all the leaders live like bottom feeders” and continue to “talk about Jesus like they don’t even see us”, then it’s time for a revolution to come. In “Stranger Blues” he sings from the perspective of the outcast willfully misunderstood and at the mercy of the righteous mob, the raucous music rising in cacophony to match his mood. Finally, in one of the album’s strongest cuts, “Badguys”, Stelling alludes to the waters of revolution rising with the growing discontent of the downtrodden: “Let us not forget that we are merely children of men / The only things worse than original sin / Is the knowledge that the bad guys always win!”

This three-disc box set is what Dylanphiles have been waiting for, sitting patiently for years, even decades. And, even after its 1991 release, it retains the feeling of being a special, shared secret among the hardcore, since — no matter the acclaim — it’s the kind of record that only the hardcore will seek out. Of course, the great irony is that even casual Dylan fans will find much to treasure in this three-disc set of unreleased material. They’ll find songs as good as anything that made the records (sometimes surpassing the official releases, especially on the last disc), plus alternate versions (including original versions of songs on Blood on the Tracks) and long-fabled songs, from the incomplete “She’s Your Lover Now” to songs cut from The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan. This doesn’t just function as an alternate history of Dylan, but as an expansion of Dylan’s history, enriching what is already known about the greatest songwriter of his era — after all, every song here would qualify as the best song on anybody else’s album. And that’s no exaggeration.
