ΓΙΑ ΤΟ 2nd HAND BOOKS
Το ν’ ανοίγουν δισκάδικα και βιβλιοπωλεία, μέσα στην κρίση, είναι παρήγορο. Για όλους. Και για εμάς –που συχνάζουμε παλαιόθεν σε τέτοια μαγαζιά, τα οποία αποτελούν κι έναν τόπο συνεύρεσης και ανταλλαγής απόψεων επί παντός επιστητού– ακόμη περισσότερο.
Ένα ωραίο βιβλιοπωλείο, second hand εννοείται (γιατί αυτά μ’ ενδιαφέρουν περισσότερο), άνοιξε εσχάτως, με αυτόν ακριβώς τον τίτλο, ως 2nd Hand Books, στην Ιπποκράτους στον αριθμό 84.

Ένα ωραίο βιβλιοπωλείο, second hand εννοείται (γιατί αυτά μ’ ενδιαφέρουν περισσότερο), άνοιξε εσχάτως, με αυτόν ακριβώς τον τίτλο, ως 2nd Hand Books, στην Ιπποκράτους στον αριθμό 84.
Πρόκειται για έναν ισόγειο καλαίσθητο χώρο στον οποίον είναι στοιβαγμένα βιβλία και περιοδικά πάσης φύσεως, ελληνικά και ξενόγλωσσα.
Δεν ξέρω αν το βιβλιοπωλείο ειδικεύεται κάπου, αλλά εγώ είδα πολύ καλές σειρές (εντύπων) σε επιστημονική φαντασία (sci-fi όπως λέμε) και occult, που προτιμώ να το αφήσω αμετάφραστο σαν λέξη – εννοώ, βεβαίως, βιβλία που αφορούν λατρείες (μυστήριες ή λιγότερο), παλαιά… αποκρυφιστικά ήθη κι έθιμα να το πούμε έτσι, εκδόσεις του «παρα-» και της φυσικής… μετά τη φυσική.
Βεβαίως από το 2nd Hand Books δεν απουσιάζουν και άλλα «είδη». Πολιτικά βιβλία, λογοτεχνικά, ποιητικά, βιβλία για τις Τέχνες (μουσική και κινηματογράφος βασικά), κόμικς εννοείται και διάφορα άλλα ποικίλης ύλης.
Και από περιοδικά πάει πάρα πολύ καλά το 2nd Hand Books, τα οποία και τίμησα δεόντως στην πρώτη επίσκεψή μου! Πήρα έξι κομμάτια, και ανάμεσα μια ΓΥΝΑΙΚΑ (τεύχος 453, Μάιος-Ιούνιος 1967) με πολυσέλιδο αφιέρωμα στο Swinging London (με Twiggy μέσα, Mary Quant, Rolling Stones και άλλα πολλά!).
Να μην ξεχάσω να πω το κυριότερο όλων. Γιατί, χωρίς αυτό, τέτοιες εποχές, δεν έχει νόημα να συζητάμε. Τις πολύ καλές τιμές!
Το 2nd Hand Books έχει εγκαίνια σήμερα Πέμπτη, από 7-10 (απόγευμα-βράδυ). Μπορεί να περάσω και πάλι για μια βόλτα…

Waiting On A Song, his second solo album, via his new label, Easy Eye Sound. The album is Auerbach’s much anticipated follow-up to 2009’s Keep It Hid and is a love letter to Nashville. As such, he recruited some of Nashville’s most respected players to write and record his latest, including John Prine, Duane Eddy, Jerry Douglas, Pat McLaughlin and Bobby Wood and Gene Chrisman of the Memphis Boys. Auerbach said about working with his musical heroes: “Living in Nashville has definitely changed the way I think about music and the way that I record it. I didn’t have all of these resources before. Sam Amidon – The Following Mountain (2017)

The Following Mountain, the newest solo album by experimental folk artist, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Sam Amidon, will be released May 26, 2017, on Nonesuch Records. Created with producer Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, Regina Spektor) and Amidon’s frequent collaborator Shahzad Ismaily, it represents a new approach for Amidon, who shifts here from his previous norm of re-working traditional folk songs and presents nine wholly original compositions, with some lyrics drawing on traditional sources. The album features a rare guest appearance by drummer Milford Graves, known initially for his work in the 1960s with free jazz legends Albert Ayler and Sonny Sharrock.
The Following Mountain was made during two distinct recording sessions: an initial weekend in Brooklyn where Ismaily and Amidon brought in Graves, percussionist Juma Sultan (Jimi Hendrix), and saxophonist Sam Gendel for a heavily improvised session; followed by time in the studio over the summer in London, where Amidon worked with Leo Abrahams to shape and develop the songs.
“The Following Mountain is a walk through the thickets of the imagination,” Amidon said, “a personal mythology of sounds and visions and characters. It is my first album of original music, but is still linked to the Appalachian music I love, as well as improvisation, beats, Don Cherry, Vermont, London.”
